Sergio Gómez, new president of the Provincial Association of Campgrounds of Alicante
Sergio Gómez Sirvent, co-owner of Alannia Campings & Resorts, has been elected as the new president of the Provincial Association of Campings Businessmen of Alicante, in the Extraordinary General Assembly held on May 19.
Gómez, a businessman closely linked to the sector in the last two decades, manages under the trademark “Alannia Resorts” several tourist establishments in destinations such as the Costa Blanca in the province of Alicante or the Costa Daurada in Tarragona.
The new president of the Provincial Association of Alicante considers that “the proposal we offer campsites on the Costa Blanca and throughout the Valencian Community has managed to position itself as a value proposition to be taken into account by many families, thanks to the process of modernization and transformation in terms of services and benefits offered today”. For Gómez, “for some time now, but especially since the pandemic situation due to Covid-19, it has been a very popular leisure and holiday alternative, much sought after by different types of tourists who generate wealth, employment and promotion of our destinations”.
“Our mission is to continue the work that has been developed with the previous president, Juan Delgado Villena, who in his two terms of office has offered an unbeatable service to the entire sector of the province of Alicante,” said Gomez.
The new president, in addition to stressing the continuous improvement towards the sustainability of the sector, believes that the Provincial Association has to work on promotion, both for the domestic market, as for the European market, where there is a great demand and much interest in the campsites of the Mediterranean coast. In fact, in the year 2021 in the province of Alicante 4,466,884 overnight stays were made, representing 60% of total overnight stays in the Valencian Community.
Sergio Gómez made a commitment to the members of the Assembly, who currently own 80% of the total number of places in the campsites in the province of Alicante, with 28,300 places, to work in defense of the companies linked to the campsites, to act as an interlocutor with the different public administrations in search of institutional recognition, to give visibility and to promote regulatory frameworks that defend the future of the camping activity.
